[CB&Q Steam] CHICAGO, BURLINGTON & QUINCY STEAM POWER: The Burlington’s steam locomotive roster was much like its Midwest competitors with many Mikados and Northerns. The Santa Fe and Texas types were used for the coal traffic from southern Illinois. Many of its Pacifics were used in Chicago commuter operations and the Hudsons on long distance passenger trains. The railroad also had a handful of Mallets for Black Hills service in South Dakota.

Almost all of the 209 photos were scanned from original 2x4 medium-format negatives. The time period is mostly in 1950s and in locations such as the Chicago area, the Twin Cities; Lincoln, Nebraska; Cheyenne, Wyoming and Denver.

The presentation is like looking through a book on a computer. The CD-ROM works in PCs (WIN 2000/XP/Vista) & Macs and is self-starting. The images can be printed out. $19.95

The railroad even had EMD re-power some of its Baldwin locomotives. In the railroad's later years, General Electric locomotives found favor. The 157 images come from slides, photos, B&W negatives and a postcard.

[MILW Steam] MILWAUKEE ROAD STEAM POWER: The Milwaukee Road’s steam roster resembled its Midwest competitors, with the exception of high-speed steam power used in “Hiawatha” passenger service. Although a transcontinental line, because of electrification out west, the railroad only rostered a few Mallets which it used on branchlines in Idaho and Washington. The 278 images mainly come from medium-format 2x4 B&W negatives.
